Just like Red Gloves

Just like Red Gloves, originally uploaded by bluebellmiffy.

I managed to get a few good takes for this year's rose season. It is really hard to choose my favorite rose shot. Reds are the rebellious colors for a digital camera and so technically a little more challenging to capture. This rose being a plain colored rose also attracted far less attention in flickr compared to other roses. Anyhow it won my heart because it is so blood red, has thick healthy petals and is an overall good capture. To the Rose Queen, until another year!

Birthday Happy

From Project One Everyday

It was a good day and yes, my birthday... mom's in town visiting from overseas... and our new camera finally arrived... timmss was so lovely as to provide another surprise - a 100mm 2.8 macro!!! I could not believe my eyes.

My mom also bought me one too many gifts... :) not that I am complaining though...

Well, it's not over yet, this Saturday, we are going out to a restaurant... I din't want to go on a weekday so that my deerie can enjoy himself more if over the weekend.

And so at the advise of some photography guru out there, I have started a photography project - to take photographs everyday and keep one a day. Yes... whether or not they are good, I'll keep one everyday...

I am no photographer, trust me! But it's all about the art in your eyes and your love for it. I might see growth in them too... I am excited to see how the album will look like this time next year!

It will be a LONG while yet before this set goes into the water diving with me... seriously... but it's quite alright. :) For now, I am a happy puppy.

Found the Frock!!

Yesterday saw myself making a last minute decision the night before to have a day shopping (girls only of course) with Timmss family. There were Teres, Jen, Berlin (names altered for their privacy) and myself. A family wedding was coming up and so the ladies were in town to see what frocks are in for Spring.

I do not have a dress at all and not to mention one that I can wear for the family wedding. Can I just say that the ladies in this family do dress very well. While they do not intend to dress to kill, they do kill when they dress! So I had to go shopping and find myself something really decent. I am a petite size 6 too! Dresses are normally too big and just don't fit!

Anyway, I set out to get some fresh air, just go out and look around. You know, chill out.

The first shop we walked into was Alannah Hill. I walked passed a lacy black number which I did take a second look at but it wasn't until when Teres said that it was a nice dress that I decided to try it on. The 3 of them sat outside waiting for me to come out from the dressing room. The dress fit like a glove on my body! The 3 fashion advisors loved it immediately. The more they saw it the more they liked it.

Then came a jewellery around my neck. It turned out to be a fashion jewellery piece by Peter Lang. It had the look of the "Heart of the Ocean" effect on me with the dress. The 'look' was perfect.

When I asked, so is it sold? The advisors said YES definitely almost simultaneously! Then I wasn't sure about the jewellery if I would wear it with something else... they suggested a Cami and out came a 100% silk black Cami and again, it fitted perfected on me! Looked stunning with jeans and heels...

I went back in to change into my cloths. The sales lady came back around (oh, she was so helpful and was there all the long buy my advisors were 'doing their job' critiquing and there wasn't too much room left, you know what I mean...) and asked "how did it go?" "Yeap." went the crowd of 3. "oh, which one?" asked the pretty sales lady. "All 3" said my advisors...

Yes, they helped me decide. And thanks to them I don't have to stress about my dress no more!!!!! I was sure it was going to so hard to find a dress that would fit me off the shelf!

So I left with 2 Alannah Hill numbers and 1 jewellery necklace by Peter Lang. It was a fruitful trip but boy was it tiring. I was shopped out but happy!

P/S: It turned out that the Peter Lang piece has a name "Shine my Light" and stones on the piece were actually Swarovski crystals.

A Young Talent's Ability to Morph

Have you ever wondered and wished that in your younger earlier teen days, that you had persisted in something or kept pursuing a little interest of yours?

I most certainly have. It's not a regret but more of a "I should have..."

So everytime I see someone young pursuing something out of just mere love and interest for the hobby and being so good at it, makes me feel very good inside.

Daniel Archer knew he loved photography. 2 years ago, he saved up just enough money to get his first consumer level SLR. Eventually he found love in doing studio photography, buying flood lights from ebay and getting mates to be his models.

I remember the time when I first looked at his gallery at flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dnaindustries/)... they were really good I thought, I mean REALLY good.

2 years on, he has most certainly found his style, in my opinion at least. He has just complied a photo journal comprising of his most adored shots in that time. I thought "Wow, now that's some progress!".

So this post is to encourage him and all who love photography, to keep doing what they love. Look at Daniel, it all started from an interest and persistence took him the rest of the way! Good job Dan!

Diving? What diving?

The plan was to head down to St Leonards Pier after attending a noon wedding in Melbourne. I thought we would get into the water by 3pm. Weather was a little windy but good land temperature of 23 degrees. Greg felt it would be 4pm... guess what? He was right.

The day started with me meddling with the alarm clock the night before and (apparently) caused Greg to oversleep and thus din't have time to pack his scuba gear. Well, i did all my gear and our common stuff the night before!! So instead of coming back from the wedding and packing our car, we had to spend another say 30min - 45mins at home before heading off.

No worries - we got to the St Leonards Pier at 4pm. Yup, there was wind and the seas was choppy... I looked at the waves crashing on the pier pylons then looked at the water... vis din't look good at all. We looked at each other and decided to try again the next morning, either at the same pier or Cottage By the Sea reef...

We travelled to Mick's place at Portarlington as arranged and checked out the weather forecast and tides for Sunday. The winds were going to be through the roof and worst than Saturday. Looked at each other again and I said "Sleep in and a good breakfast?" Greg's reply was "Sounds goooddd."

And so we had a weekend at Portarlington visiting Mick and Tanch which was lovely! And came home with our dry diving gear. :)

Until next time, our diving adventures continues...

Back into Photography...

There were only two things I clearly love at a very very young age - scuba diving and photography.

Scuba diving, I managed to pursue the moment I din't need parental consent. :)

Photography was an expensive hobby in those days (even now) but in the film days was the cost of purchasing good films, taking many many shots and developing them all... Not having the money, I knew I couldn't take it any further.

When I got into Uni and had to take up a non academic elective, guess what, I went for photography. Mum eventually bought me a consumer level SLR after my older point and shoot failed while mum borrowed it. (Mum was so upset because she thought I would be very upset! How sweet... bless her.) Still it was film!!! I did manage to compile one portfolio but never another.

After starting to dive more because Timmss learnt diving, I couldn't help but get really excited about photography once again... this time I decided to just do it. I had often imaged what would have been the quality of my pictures if I had stuck with it all these while.

So I have identified the camera and selected lenses... ;)

Will it go underwater? Most definitely and that will cost more...

So hopefully, we'll start having pictures in 6 months or so.

Trying Something New...

Believe it or not, this is the first time I am trying to setup a blog of my own or blog anything for that matter! For a self-confessed technology geek, this is like a "are you sure!" with sacasm that is.

So why now? Well, end 2007 saw my resignation from the position of Director of Technical Services - it was a loved job even though the hours I worked was tremendous at time and environment trying. There were of course good reasons for leaving, but that story is for another day.

Timmss and I went for a diving holiday at Vanuatu and stayed at Tranquility Island for the most part. For the first time in many years, I din't have to worry about anything and enjoyed the holiday very much. Our brand new underwater camera was stolen sometime during delivery and his office and so we din't have any pictures at all.

I have been working for my lovely partner since, on a covert project. ;) It can be very taxing on the brains, the eyes, morale and very dry at times! In between working on the covert project, I completed upgrading my technical certification and got myself registered as a Project Manager. I also just completed the design of a Facebook page for my dive club, Aquability in Menton Victoria Australia.

So yes I have been pretty busy. I guess this blog is one of the in betweens... me trying to break up the monotony of the covert project. :)

Yes, I do hope to keep posting... if time and adventures allows. So see us later!
